Dubai: The UAE and Saudi Arabia successfully put out a massive fire that broke out between the border of the two countries.

The fire erupted at the Al Batha Border Checkpoint on Sunday at 12.30pm.

As a black plume of smoke filled the air, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence rushed to the aid of its Saudi counterparts to control the blaze.

In the video, which was quickly trending on social media, viewers can watch how a team of firefighters and 10 water tanks extinguished the huge fire at the Saudi customs facility.

Saudi Customs said that the fire broke out from one of the warehouses at the Al Batha Checkpoint, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Officials cordoned off the area to protect the public’s safety, and flammable material were removed from the vicinity, including paints, oils, clothing, batteries, paper, engines, trucks and confiscated cars.

Firemen from Abu Dhabi’s Civil Defence squad, led by Mubarak Saif Al Mansouri, and Al Dhafra Region Municipality, along with four private entities, together lent a helping hand for their Saudi brothers.

Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, commended the efforts made by the team in their professional response to the accident.

"This is a direct outcome of the readiness trainings they conduct on a regular basis to hone their skills and boost their capabilities," said Al Rumaithi, who is also the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Team.

“Supporting our brothers in emergencies that threaten their safety and stability is part of the measures we take to safeguard our security and national stability," he added.

On its Twitter page, the Abu Dhabi Crisis Management Team said that as a brotherly response, “Civil Defence teams and municipality water tanks from Al Dhafra district were provided as logistical support to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to contain the fire at Al Batha Border Checkpoint.”
