Dubai: Visitors to police stations in Dubai may not have to go around searching for a place to park their vehicles, a top official said on Wednesday.

Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, laid the foundation stone of the first multi-storey smart parking facility at Al Muraqqabat police station on Wednesday.

“We are keen to provide the facility to customers at all Dubai police stations in line with our leaders’ instructions to spread happiness among public. Today, we laid the foundation stone of the project as part of our strategy to cut time and efforts of customers by implementing the latest technology and innovation,” Maj-Gen Al Merri said.

The facility at Al Muraqqabat police station will be for 21 cars and it will use smart mechanism in parking the car without the need for human intervention.

Major-General Mohammad Saeed, director of Supplies and Services Department at Dubai Police, said, “This project will be implemented in other police stations that lack parking space in the future.”

The facility will use a smart mechanism by which the car will be lifted to the empty slots automatically. Customers can collect their cars again without any human intervention.

The police did not reveal the fees to be charged from customers for the smart parking service.
