Sharjah: A 63-year-old woman died after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the road in Sharjah’s Al Majaz 3 area on Monday, according to police.
The incident happened around 7.50pm on Monday, the police said.
The Pakistani woman was trapped under the wheels of the vehicle, a police official said.
She was transferred to Al Kuwaiti Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police said the driver of the speeding car was not paying attention to the road. The driver is currently under police custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Sharjah Police appealed to the public to observe road safety rules and urged drivers to give priority to pedestrians at road crossings.
