Dubai: A Romanian girl was overjoyed when Dubai Police invited her to a surprise birthday party at the police academy museum.

Eight-year-old Alexandra’s mother wrote to Dubai Police asking if there was a possibility they could organise a birthday party for her daughter since the force had made a lasting impression on the young Dubai resident and she couldn’t ever stop expressing her admiration for Dubai Police when talking to family or friends. Officials promptly promised to surprise Alexandra.

Brigadier Abdul Raheem Bin Shafee, director of Al Barsha police station, said that they received an email from a Romanian mother saying her daughter wished to celebrate her birthday with Dubai Police.

“We linked up with her mother and her classmates in school and sent a police car to her school and took her to police academy. We surprised her with a birthday cake and party after we decorated the museum for her,” Brigadier Bin Shafee told Gulf News.

Police brought Alexandra’s classmates in a bus to the venue before a police patrol went to her school to pick her up.

Alexandra stepped out of the police car carrying flowers presented by a policewoman before walking into the museum and being taken completely by surprise to see the cake with her name on it and the Dubai Police band celebrating her birthday.

“We organised a special cake for her carrying the Dubai Police logo. It was a joyful atmosphere and she celebrated her birthday with family, friends and Dubai Police,” Brig. Bin Shafee said.

He said Police are always keen to bring joy to all residents and visitors as part of community police initiatives.

“Dubai Police not only respond quickly to emergencies but we also respond quickly to such community initiatives to spread happiness in society,” he added.

Meanwhile, Alexandra’s mother expressed her gratitude to Dubai Police for the sweet gesture. As for Alexandra, she went home with unforgettable memories and a gift from Dubai Police.
