Al Ain: Al Ain National Museum has announced that the month of June will be dedicated to ancient glazed pottery from the late Islamic period across the 16th to 20th Centuries, with one particular example named as the Star Object of the Month.

The move is in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, as part of the ongoing educational programmes at Al Ain cultural sites and museums.

The artefact in focus in June will be a glazed dish found in the Zabian Forest area of Al Khazna. The dish was broken when found by a topographic surveying team in 2009 and is believed to be from the late Islamic era. It has since been restored by the conservation team at DCT Abu Dhabi. Similar pieces of glazed pottery have been found in several archaeological dig sites across the emirate.
