Dubai: Iftar tents have been set up at convenient locations for thousands of truck drivers who are on the road most of the days even during Ramadan.

Shell has sponsored three tents at key locations such as Al Aweer Fruits and Vegetables Market in Dubai, Al Sajja Industrial Area in Sharjah and Tarif near the UAE-Saudi Arabia border, accommodating around 15,000 people throughout the month.

According to a Shell official, each tent serves 500 truck drivers daily, offering packages of chicken biryani, fruits, dates and drinks.

“We were doing it on a smaller scale before but this time we scaled it up and set up the tents at three strategic locations which are easily accessible for truck drivers. We want to serve the truck drivers and appreciate them for all the hard work they put in, being on the road all the time and away from their families,” said a Shell official.

However, he added that the tents are open to all people who want to end the fast.
