Dubai: Some uniformed officers on bicycles raced through the street, while others escorted people out of a building just moments before an “explosion” ripped through the front side of a coffee shop.
Moments later, a number of patrol cars and helicopters arrived. Thick smoke then filled the air, as armed SWAT personnel, all dressed in black, took up positions and attempted to douse off a blaze.
This was the dramatic scene at the counter-terrorism training that was staged recently by the Dubai Police Academy.
The mock training scenario showed uniformed officers in action during a terror strike.
The drill, witnessed by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, was one of the highlights of the graduation ceremony of Dubai Police Academy on Tuesday.
Shaikh Hamdan had honoured some top students during the ceremony and congratulated them for their excellence.
