Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah Police on Sunday arrested two men suspected to be involved in robbery on Jewellery shop in Al Nakheel area in Ras Al Khaimah, Police said on Sunday

The African duo committed the theft after midnight on Thursday in one gold outlet in Al Nakheel area.

The suspects stole gold jewellery kept in display glass counters worth Dh700,000 in addition to Dh50,000 in cash that they stole.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Munkis, director of Criminal and Investigation Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the the suspects were arrested within 48 hours after committing the crime.

A police patrol was dispatched to the shop after the alarm went off when the thieves broke into the shop.

Police said that one of the suspects stood as a lookout while the other broke display glass counters to steal jewellery and cash.

They fled before police arrived at the scene but one of the suspects was traced in a neighbouring emirate where police arrested him.

The suspect gave police information that led to the arrest of the other suspect.

Their case has been referred to the public prosecution.
