Ras Al Khaimah: Two suspected drug mules were arrested at the airport here for trying to smuggle in 186 heroin capsules they had ingested, an official said on Monday.

The police arrested the Asian men after they behaved strangely.

On being interrogated, they confessed having swallowed the heroin capsules in a bid to smuggle them into the UAE.

One of them had swallowed 96 capsules weighing 749grams and other had ingested 90 capsules weighted 561.4 grams.

They were taken to a hospital where the capsules were removed from their stomach and they were referred to public prosecution.

Colonel Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, Director-General of the Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department, said police were tipped off about the suspects, who were visiting the country. Both of them were travelling on the same flight

A team was formed to follow up the case.

The team monitored the movements of the passengers upon their arrival. When taken for questioning, the men confessed they had capsules in their stomach.

They admitted receiving the capsules from a man in their home country and were paid a huge a mount of money for each capsule they swallowed.

The arrest was made in cooperation with Duabi Police and Ras Al Khaimah Custome department .

Major General Ali bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ras al-Khaimah Police , lauded the cooperation of police departments in the country.
