Sharjah: Sharjah Police arrested three Asian men on Saturday for making and distributing counterfeit copies of pornographic films in a workers’ accommodation located in various parts of the emirate.

An official at Sharjah Police said that the Bangladeshi suspects used a printer and scanner to carry out their illegal activities from home.

“As soon as we were notified about the illegal activity of the suspects, a security team was formed from the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate the case,” the official said.

After locating the suspects’ whereabouts, police raided their residence. Police found a huge number of ready-to-sell porn at the suspects’ home at the time of their arrest. They also recovered a number of high-tech movie-copying devices.

The suspects targeted bachelors and workers at industrial area No 6 and the Al Shuwaihein area in Sharjah.

The suspects have been detained and confessed to their crime. They will be referred to the Sharjah Public Prosecution.

Sharjah Police is keen on protecting the youth from becoming targets of porn peddlers, an official said.

“This is an illegal act and the law will punish anyone caught practising it, as it also relates to copyright infringement,” a police official said.
