Al Ain: Police have arrested a gang of six Africans who looted Dh400,000 from a money exchange van in Al Ain’s industrial area after assaulting the guards.

The police recovered a bag containing Dh400,000 stolen from the van that belongs to an exchange house.

The police said the suspects also assaulted the security guards of the vehicle.

Brigadier Mohammad Suhail Al Rashdi, director at Al Ain Police Directorate, said, Falaj Hazza police station received a report that some unidentified people were beating employees of a money exchange when they were leaving the exchange in the industrial area.

A police team was immediately rushed to scene to investigate the matter and take necessary actions.

The van’s guards received injuries when they resisted the gang members. The suspects have confessed to their crime.

Brigadier Al Rashdi said the suspects monitored the movement of the van before robbing it.

The police have referred the suspects to public prosecution for legal action.

Brigadier Al Rashdi urged money transferring companies to be vigilant and cautious and follow the security and safety procedures.
