Fujairah: A 42-year-old Gulf national was referred to Fujairah Criminal Court on Wednesday for tying his 19-year-old daughter with an iron chain, assaulting her and preventing her from going outside the house, an official told Gulf News on Wednesday.
The Fujairah Public Prosecution is pressing charges of illegal confinement and torture against the girl’s father.
The case was referred to the court on Wednesday and a trial date will be announced later.
The incident took place ten days ago at Al Faseel area of Fujairah, the official said.
The girl is a university student and was living with her father and her siblings.
The mother was at her family house due to a marital dispute.
The mother informed police that her daughter was locked up and the father had tied her with an iron chain.
After making sure of the accuracy of the information, Fujairah Police raided the house and rescued the girl who was sent for medical tests.
The girl told the police that her father tortured her and chained her but the man denied the allegations.
