Dubai: Two men and a teenager beat a friend who had asked them to leave a girl’s birthday party, heard a court on Wednesday.
The German girl was said to have invited her friends to her birthday party at the family’s villa house in Al Barsha in April.
Once the party was over, the girl’s mother asked the family’s countryman friend to inform the invitees that they should leave because it was late, according to records.
The mother was in the kitchen when she heard loud noises and when she came out, she saw her daughter’s three friends beating their 27-year-old family friend.
Police apprehended the girl’s three friends — a 16-year-old Indian, an 18-year-old Tunisian and an 18-year-old Somali.
Prosecutors accused the two adult suspects and the teenager of assaulting the family’s German friend and causing him a permanent disability.
According to the accusation sheet, prosecutors said the trio beat and kicked the German and caused him a four per cent permanent disability in his jaw.
The Somali suspect failed to show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance where he was scheduled to enter his plea on Wednesday.
The Tunisian suspect pleaded not guilty and denied causing a permanent disability to the German.
The German claimant’s lawyer lodged a civil lawsuit against the suspects and is seeking Dh21,000 in temporary compensation against his damages.
The German claimed to prosecutors: “I was attending the girl’s birthday party. At 1am, her mother asked me to tell the invitees to leave because it was late. When I did so, the suspects ganged up against me and beat me. They punched and kicked me.”
The mother testified to prosecutors that once she came out of the kitchen, she saw the suspects assaulting the man.
“I heard loud fighting noises. When I went out, I saw the suspect beating and kicking the claimant,” she claimed to prosecutors.
A German witness told prosecutors that the complainant and the suspects fought after the former asked them to leave the party.
The 16-year-old Indian is being tried before the Dubai Juveniles Court.
Presiding judge Arafa Mohammad said the Somali will be legally notified about the next hearing on August 5.
