Dubai: A supervisor has been accused of molesting his co-worker when he made her close her eyes to give her a present before he kissed her lips.

The 24-year-old Filipina co-worker was said to be present with her 33-year-old countryman supervisor at a Dubai Metro station to meet a client in December.

The woman went to meet with a client and when, according to records, she returned, her supervisor told her that he got her a present.

The supervisor asked his co-worker to close her eyes to give her the present and planted a surprise kiss on her lips when she closed her eyes.

Records said the angered woman pushed the supervisor instantly, beat him on his shoulder, walked away and reported the matter to the police.

Police summoned the supervisor for questioning at the station.

Prosecutors charged the suspect with molesting his co-worker.

Not guilty plea

The suspect pleaded not guilty when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.

“Law enforcement officers threatened to throw me in prison … I didn’t do it. There is a chain of exchanged emails on the company’s server that she will drop her complaint,” the suspect told presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi.

The co-worker testified to prosecutors that the incident happened at one of the stations of Dubai Metro at 1pm.

“After I finished meeting with a client, I returned to the suspect. He asked me to close my eyes because he wanted to give me a gift … when I did, he presented me a tweezer. I thanked him for the gift but he asked me to close my eyes a second time.

"Once I did, he kissed my lips surprisingly. His unacceptable and unexpected behaviour angered me … I opened my eyes quickly and pushed him away from me. I beat him on his shoulder and walked away.

"He chased me to apologise and then he explained that he just wanted to express that he likes me,” she told prosecutors.

The suspect was cited as admitting to prosecutors that he did kiss his co-worker.

Presiding judge Al Shamsi adjourned the case until the suspect hires a lawyer to represent him on March 21.
