Dubai: An airport porter has been accused of stealing two liquor bottles and transferring the alcohol into water bottles, to take it with him.

A policeman, in charge of searching porters when they leave the premises of the Dubai International Airport, noticed an unusual bulge on the legs of the Nepalese porter, 29, when he searched him in August.

Upon frisking him, the policeman found two drinking water bottles taped to the porter’s legs.

When confronted about it, the Nepalese instantly admitted to pouring the liquor from its original bottles into his water bottles.

Prosecutors accused the Nepalese suspect of stealing two liquor bottles worth Dh90 and possessing alcohol illegally.

The suspect admitted that he stole the liquor for drinking, when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

“Yes, I stole the liquor,” he told presiding judge Shaikha Hamad, entering a guilty plea.

The suspect was cited admitting to prosecutors that he stole the two bottles from his workplace and transferred the alcohol in empty water bottles, and to taping the water bottles filled with liquor to his legs, in order to take it home.

A ruling will be passed on October 16.
