Dubai: A team of firefighters were able to rescue a woman and her two children from their apartment that had caught fire in Jeddah.
Mussafar Al Harthy, who was the first of his peers to enter the apartment, described the scene as “horrifying”, in comments to Al Arabiya.
“The father alerted us that his wife and two children were inside the building.”
At first, the firefighters were unable to locate the family members, but they finally spotted the mother, who was struggling to breathe, by the window.
The firefighters managed to bring the woman and her two children safely outside.
After the rescue, pictures of the firefighters went viral on social media, with users commending the men for their heroic efforts.
“We firefighters work to save people’s lives every day. It’s our role and we are proud of it. After every rescue mission we are happy because we are taught to sacrifice oursevles for the country and its people,” Al Harthy said.
