Manama: Kuwait has dismissed “malicious” reports about the results of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman’s visit.

Prince Salman made a brief visit to Kuwait on Sunday evening where he held talks with the Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad and senior officials on ways to consolidate ties and strengthen cooperation.

Prince Mohammad was given a grand welcome and an F18 escorted his plane as it entered Kuwaiti airspace, according to Saudi and Kuwaiti reports.

Shaikh Sabah hosted a dinner banquet in honour of Prince Mohammad and his high-profile delegation.

The news agencies and dailies of both countries hailed the outcome of the visit, the first to a Gulf country by Prince Mohammad since he was appointed Crown Prince.

However, some reports in other countries claimed that the results were less than expected.

“We deplore reports in some media, particularly social media, that included erroneous information and claims that lacked credibility about the visit,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Monday evening.

“The dissemination of such misleading information is an approach aimed at harming the fraternal relations between the two countries and at undermining their higher interests.”

The spokesperson said Kuwait was satisfied with the outcome of the visit and that the talks were characterised by a brotherly spirit and a shared keenness to achieve common higher interests.

“The two countries want to move forward with the joint Gulf action to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the sons and daughters of the GCC,” the spokesperson said.
