The 18-month-old's parents, five-year-old sister and grandmother died in the crash.

The child's uncle was quoted by Arabiya.net as saying that Prince Khalid Bin Ayyaf, head of the Saudi National Guard, called and informed him of the Crown prince's order to move the baby to the National Guard Hospital after many healthcare facilities failed to accommodate him.

The child, Ali Al Zahrani, suffered a brain injury and a skull fracture. He was in a comma for 19 days in King Fahad hospital in Al Bahah. So far he has undergone a head operation. He has been taken off the ventilator and his condition is said to be stable enough for the move.
