Abu Dhabi: Qatar continues to support extremist and terrorist ideologies, and spread hatred and incitement, the Arab Quartet has said.
The statement of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt was in response to a speech made by the Qatar’s foreign minister at the 37th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, which contained many falsehoods, according to the Quartet.

Obaid Salem Al Za’abi, Permanent Representative of the UAE to United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, delivered a statement on behalf of the four countries, in which he said Qatar was trying to ‘market’ the dispute as a major international crisis, in order to draw the attention of the world community. “We believe this minor political crisis between our countries and Qatar should be solved within the context of ongoing mediation by the Emir of Kuwait Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah...”
Al Za’abi said: “Qatar should choose either to be a state that believes in the principle of good neighbourliness and seek to build positive relations with its neighbouring countries ... or [it will] continue to be in breach of international law and ... conventions to counter terrorism, and funding and support of terrorism.”
Al Za’abi stressed Qatar’s role in supporting extremist and terrorist ideologies, and spreading hatred and incitement through its media outlets. “Qatar ... is hosting leaders of the international organisation of the Muslim Brotherhood...whose dark thoughts ... only produce ... terrorist organisations like Al Qaida,” he said.
