Thiruvananthapuram: Internet’s ability to create overnight sensations was on display again this week when a young Kerala actress who is awaiting the release of her debut movie found herself the toast of social media in a matter of a few hours.
With only hours to go for Valentine’s Day, Priya Prakash Varrier who is awaiting the release of her Malayalam movie, Oru Adaar Love, has taken social media by storm, with a clip of her enticing eyebrow movements captivating viewers around the world.
Stunningly, it took the girl from Thrissur only a wink and a few movements of her eyebrows to captivate audiences, as her social media followers jumped from just about 5,000 to over a million within a few hours.
Those audiences were primarily from Kerala in the beginning, but then spread across India and Pakistan before reaching millions of non-resident Indians and others across the globe.
As a trained dancer in Mohiniyaatam (classical dance form in Kerala), Varrier’s range of expressions isn’t surprising.
The appreciation for the manner in which Varrier acted out a winking sequence lasting only a few seconds was captured by one of her million plus fans, Akshay Jain, who commented, “Priya Prakash Varrier gave all kinds of expressions in those two minutes what Katrina Kaif couldn’t give in her entire Bollywood career”.
The clip was from the song, Manikya Malaraya Poove, composed by Shaan Rahman and rendered by Vineeth Sreenivasan.— priya varrier (@priyavarierr) February 11, 2018
“I am amazed by the way the clip has gone viral. I am now waiting for the entire movie to be seen by audiences,” she told a local television channel.
Varrier, who spent her early years in Mumbai, is presently settled in Thrissur and she is pursuing her graduation in Commerce. She had been chosen for the movie based on an audition and was initially slotted for a minor role, but her acting prowess led to the director giving her one of the lead roles in the movie.
Oru Adaar Love, Omar Lulu’s new film featuring Warrier in her debut role, is slated to release in April this year.
