Hyderabad: In a big relief to a controversial Hindu religious figure Swamy Paripoornananda, the Hyderabad High Court lifted the ban on his entry into the city. The court passed the interim order on Tuesday almost a month after the Hyderabad police and neighbouring commissionerates of Rachakonda and Cyberabad had externed him on charges of making a hate speech at a public meeting.

Paripoornananda, head of the Kakinada Peeth, was in the eye of a storm after he announced a protest procession in the city against a Telugu film critic’s inappropriate remarks against the Hindu religious icons Rama and Sita in a TV debate.

The Hyderabad police commissioner issued orders expelling both Paripoornanda and film critic Katti Mahesh and banned them from entering Hyderabad city for six months. While Katti Mahesh was sent to his hometown Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, Paripoornananda was sent to Kakinada, his hometown.

However, the Hindu religious head approached the High Court challenging the government order. The High Court orders came a day after the right wing organisations Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal held a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad collector’s office.

Paripooranandais said to be planning to make his political debut with the blessings of the BJP.
