Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will resume its direct non-stop flight from Dubai to New York at the end of this month, according to the company's regional office.

"We will resume our operation to New York from Dubai during the last week of May which would be the only direct flight to the USA from Dubai," said Sabaruddin Ismail, Malaysia Airlines' area manager for UAE and Gulf.

"We will have full traffic rights in the Dubai-NY sector and will carry passengers from Dubai. At the moment we are planning to operate two weekly flights in the route."

Malaysia Airlines stopped its flights in Dubai last year. It has recently began operating from Dubai to other destinations in the routes. The resumption of the Dubai-NY route will almost bring its operation back to the previous level. "There is a great demand of passengers in this route and it will fulfil this," he said.

Some other airlines, like Biman Bangladesh Airlines, operate services to New York, but those have stopovers in Europe.
