Sharjah: The world’s longest Iftar table was laid out near the picturesque Al Noor Mosque at the city’s Buhaira Corniche.

Named the “Joy of Giving”, this event aimed at entering the Guinness Book of World Records by laying out an iftar table which was a staggering kilometre in length.

It brought together thousands of people from all over the UAE to end their fast.

Members of Green Hope UAE reached Al Noor Mosque a few hours before iftar, all eager to help out and contribute to this wonderful event.

We first helped in setting up the stage, which would be used later in the evening for the awards ceremony. The organisers had arranged dates, drinks and food. We helped in laying this out on the table before it was time for iftar.

Thereafter, the representative from Guinness World Records presented the official certificate declaring that a new record had been created.

This was a moment of great pride for all of us who had assembled there.

As the cannon sounded out the time for iftar, thousands ended their fast at the world’s longest iftar table. The picturesque setting of the Buhaira Corniche added to the grandeur of the event.

After the crowd dispersed, we helped in clearing up the place and disposing the litter. We felt satisfied that we, the children and youth, could contribute and be a part of this community event.
