Another singing competition has returned to the UAE, as Project: Aloft Star 2018 prepares for kick off this month.

Stephon LaMar, last year’s winner, alongside finalist Danny Aridi and Arabic artist Mahdi Baccouch will perform at the launch event on September 18 at Aloft Palm Jumeirah.

The artist discovery contest, supported by Aloft Hotels and Universal Music Group & Brands, is inviting unsigned talents above the age of 21 to upload a video of themselves performing, as well as a short biography, from launch night until October 6.

A panel will then shortlist candidates online, so fans can view and vote for their favourite artists between October 10 and October 23. Four finalists will be announced on October 26.

Lebanese singer Anthony Touma, UAE-based DJ Shaun Warner, Revolt Magazine founder Big Hass and Anghami’s Mark Shakedown will mentor them toward to the finale. The final four will perform on November 6 at Aloft City Centre Deira, where a grand prize winner will be chosen.

The winner will walk away with the opportunity to record a single at Abbey Road Studios in the UK, as well as mentoring from Universal Music Group executives and producers, worldwide digital release of their single and a music video shot at Aloft City Centre Deira.
