Budding designers can now apply for the Dubai Design Fashion Council (DDFC) Vogue Fashion Prize valued at $250,000 (Dh918,234). The fashion prize will award three different designers across the categories of ready-to-wear, accessories and fine jewellery.

Winners will be announced in November and receive a financial production grant; retail pick-up from selected retail partners; mentorship from various members of the selection committee; and an advertising campaign promoting their spring/summer retail launch, collectively representing over quarter million dollars in value.

The fashion prize was first launched in the Middle East in 2015, with the aim of promoting regional talent by providing a yearly programme for emerging designers to showcase their abilities. Previous winners have included Hussain Bazaza (2015, ready-to-wear, Lebanon), Hind Matar (2015, ready-to-wear, Bahrain) and Reemami (2016, ready-to-wear, UAE).

Manuel Arnaut, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Arabia, said in a statement: “Building on the success of last year’s programme, we will be introducing an official category for fine jewellery this year. We’re now in a position to further support our home-grown talents across a platform that better encapsulates the Arab world’s potential on a global stage.”

Jazia Aldanhani, CEO of the DDFC, added: “The success of the Fashion Prize is testimony to the incredible talent of our community, and an important element in the effort to elevate Dubai’s positioning as a destination for design.”

Designers can apply online on the official website of the fashion prize.
