Here are some new launches in make-up and skincare that have caught our eye this week:

Modern shopping

Everyone in the UAE knows the handy screens at The Dubai Mall that stop people from being lost forever in the massive retail space, but there’s a new kind of screen to help customers navigate the world of beauty.

Lifestyle has launched a new concept at its Dubai Mall branch, integrating technology with brick-and-mortar retail. The 461-square-metre store now features an “omnichannel experience” that allows people to browse beauty brands and their products on digital interfaces. It’s supposed to be an interactive experience that mimics online shopping, expect you can buy on the spot.

Brands that are available at the store include Klara Cosmetics, an Australian brand that recently landed in the Middle East, and other make-up and lifestyle favourites such as Elle Decor, Esteban Paris, theBalm Cosmetics, and Bronx Colors.

Gifting made easy

I don’t know anyone who isn’t made instantly happy by the sight of a pretty box of goodies waiting for them. As it’s almost time to start thinking of Eid gifting, online retailers are making it easy — almost too easy — to treat loved ones.

Sephora has a number of gift sets that include full size and mini products from hair, make-up and skincare brands. Our top pick is the trio pack of Becca best-sellers (Dh192) — a pressed highlighter in the best-selling shade Opal, the Under Eye Brightening Corrector and one of our favourite primers, First Light Priming Filter.

Another sweet deal is the Zoeva Plaisir Box which has three eyeshadow palettes — Caramel Melange, Blanc Fusion and Cocoa Blend — for Dh315. These palettes are totally underrated and would be a lovely surprise for any make-up lover.

Glambeaute has a lot of more affordable gifting options, our favourite being the lip product pack that includes a Prestige lip pencil, a Wet n Wild lipstick, a Flormar liquid lipstick and a Palladio lip balm. All great brands for just Dh99.

Fashionable make-up

The worlds of fashion and beauty often merge, and it does once again as iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld and beauty brand ModelCo collaborate on a limited-edition make-up collection.

The collection, which has the theme ‘Illuminated Beauty’, includes more than 50 products for face, eyes and lips, plus accessories. Some of the packaging also features a Karl Lagerfeld head silhouette. Of course, such a collection is incomplete with an iconic red lip and this comes in the form of a liquid lipstick that has a built-in light and mirror. Karl Lagerfeld x ModelCo is available in Bloomingdale’s Dubai, Tryano in Abu Dhabi and online at Namshi and Nisnass.

Fresh skin

Skin and hot weather do not get along thanks to sweat, UV rays, dust and pollution. Skincare brand Boscia is hoping to stop those pores from getting clogged with its new Activated Charcoal line. The detoxifying agent is included in its masks, moisturisers and cleansers to help keep skin clear and healthy. The Charcoal Deep Pore Exfoliating Peel Gel (Dh124) is one product that has caught our eye. It works as a physical exfoliant and a chemical peel to purify pores and clear out dead skin cells.
