A lot is riding on Telugu film Krishnarjuna Yuddham.

Nani plays dual roles in this action-entertainer directed by Merlapaka Gandhi who is sitting snug with two hits — his debut film Venkatagiri Express was a romantic comedy, and his second film Express Raja was a successful comic thriller.

Gandhi’s story juggles between two completely different backgrounds. Nani plays Krishna, a naive rural man, and Arjun, a rock star from Prague.

As the title indicates, the story is about the battle between the two as well as their battle for a common cause.

Gandhi, son of well known Telugu writer Merlapaka Murali, says that he has experimented with the story telling and screenplay.

Gandhi is happy working with Nani — his first with the star — and is amazed at how the actor portrays two different personalities that are as similar as chalk and cheese.

While Krishna is a complete native guy speaking in crude Chittoor slang, Arjun leads a playboy’s life abroad.

Anupama Parameswaran who is riding high in Telugu cinema is Arjun’s lover. She plays Subbalakshmi, a photographer.

Rukshar Dhillon is Krishna’s love interest — Rhea, a doctor.

Gandhi promises an entertainer complete with action and romance.

The supporting cast includes Brahmmaji, Ravi Awana and Prabhas Seenu. Hip Hop Tamizha has composed music. Karthik Ghattamaneni is the DOP.

Krishnarjuna Yuddham, produced by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi, releases in the UAE on April 12.
