Houston-based Pakistani siblings Zain Farooqi, Shayan Khan Farooqi and Komal Farooqi, who show a great interest in cinema, are coming out with their first feature under their home banner — Zashko Entertainment. Interestingly titled Na Band Na Baraati, the film is said to be a comedy and stars Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ali Kazmi, Atiqa Odho and model Nayab Khan in the lead. Shayan and Komal also make their silver screen debut in their home production.

Directed by Mahmoud Akhtar, a senior PTV actor who also plays a small part in the film, and scripted by Harish Kumar Patel, an Indian settled in Texas, Na Band… has a very cosmopolitan look to it. As producer Zain Farooqi said at a meet-and-greet event held recently in Karachi: “[Our] team comes from a large mix of nationalities, hired on the basis of their expertise to leave no stone unturned in making an impactful film that raises the bar for Pakistani cinema.”

Later, a sneak preview of the film’s songs was given to the media in attendance. These included Baahon Mein, which is a love ditty rendered by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan; Sajan Bin Raina, a sad number sung by the legendary Rahat Fateh Ali Khan; and Pyar Wyar, by noted musician and singer Sahir Ali Bagga and Aima Baig.

The OST has been composed by Ayaz Sonu, while the background score is done by Mohsin Ali.

The audience was also treated to a well-choreographed live act by the film’s main stars Mikaal Zulfiqar, Shayan Khan and Nayab Khan. Shafqat Amanat Ali and Bagga also performed live on the insistence of the crowd.

Na Band Na Baraati is slated for a simultaneous worldwide release on July 6 this year. It’s a Hum Films presentation, which has earlier given us such family entertainers as Bin Roye, Na Maloom Afraad and Janaan, all of which turned out to be blockbuster hits.
