Set in the distinctly hipster City Walk neighbourhood, the newly opened La Ville Hotel & Suites, is a chic boutique hotel that’s completely in sync with the “urban living” concept that’s all the rage these days.

A part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Hotels, one naturally expects a 5 star experience and service. But the folks at La Ville go above and beyond to make guests feel comfortable and fashion a unique stay for urban travelers, especially when it comes to their dining options.

The room

Our room was a compact space with all the modern trimmings, done up in neutral, calming colours, and the windows of which opened up onto a lively City Walk sidewalk, where you can people watch for hours, if you’re into that sort of thing. The bathroom’s surprisingly spacious and includes a standalone tub, marble finishes and a walk-in shower.

What to do

The hotel’s infinity pool is where all the action’s at. With stunning views of the Dubai skyline and City Walk itself, my companion and I were sure to wake up early to spend extra time at this gorgeous spot.

The spa, dubbed La Ville Relaxation Suites, includes two beautiful treatment rooms that offer a range of bespoke treatments and express services. There’s also a gym for the fitness-inclined.

Where to eat

The hotel offers five unique dining concepts. The hotel’s all day dining restaurant, Chival, focuses on organic and thoughtfully-sourced produce. Breakfast here is a hearty and delectable affair with a fairly large continental selection to choose from. Set within light and breezy interiors, head here for a casual meal.

If you’re looking for a more intimate and sophisticated setting, head to Graze, where they specialize in prime cuts and seafood offerings. While my companion and I were huge fans of the extensive steak selection, the baked oysters for starters are a must-try here.

And for relaxed vibes and a breathtaking view of the Dubai skyline, head right up to LookUp, the pool-side bar at La Ville, where we guarantee you’ll be spending a lot of time, even if it’s just to admire the view.

Set separate from the hotel section is the standalone Grapeskin restaurant, an industrial-looking bar and kitchen space that blends right into City Walk’s funky sidewalks.

Open 24 hours is the Lobby Cafe, where one can grab coffee and a light snack at any time of the day.

What we recommend

La Ville is perfect for the chic traveler looking to explore the many entertainment, dining and shopping choices at City Walk. Head here for a staycation if you like being in the heart of the city and dabble in luxurious food options and laze at a stunning infinity pool.
