Taking staycations is something probably every Dubai resident has done at some point, whether for a long weekend, to get away from roommates, or just for ‘me time’.
If being close to all the action is what you’re looking for in a staycation then the dusitD2 Kenz Hotel in Barsha Heights is a good option. It’s right in the middle of what used to be called Tecom and is a short walk or drive to some of the best pubs, clubs and restaurants the city has to offer.
If you’re a traveller, this hotel would be a fuss-free option that is easily accessible by taxi and metro.
The room
The Club Double Room is of an average size and is decorated in tasteful, earthy shades. The wooden accents lend the room a cosy touch. The bathroom has bright blue and green accents, which were very cool. The bath products were all from Rituals and had a luxurious feel. The view of Shaikh Zayed Road is beautiful (if you’re a city person like me) and the window is nice place to sit with a cup of coffee and watch the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel finds a way to be simple but high-end at the same time.
What to do
The hotel has a pool, gym and spa, if staying indoors is your thing. There’s even a supermarket right across the road if you feel like stocking up on snacks. Add some Netflix into the mix and you basically never have to leave the hotel.
Where to eat
There’s a hidden gem of a restaurant in the hotel — Wise Kwai. It’s a quirky Thai spot that has some of the best food I have ever tasted. Leave space for desserts and copious amounts of Thai iced tea. The breakfast buffet at Ostro has the perennial favourites — eggs, sausages, pastries, Arabic staples and more — and the quaint, airy atmosphere of the restaurant is a perfect place to shake of your sleep.
What we recommend
dusitD2 Kenz Hotel is a good option for travellers who want to be right in the middle of the busy city, but is still peaceful enough for a quiet mini-vacation. Don’t stay indoors the whole day though — there’s so much to do outside.
