The film is based on a true story that revolves around sailing aficionados, Tami Oldham (played by Shailene Woodley) and Richard Sharp (played by Sam Claflin) who proceed on an oceanic odyssey in 1983, unaware that they are sailing into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes ever recorded.

As Tami awakens in the aftermath, she faces the courageous task of saving herself and her fiance, using all her spirit and resilience.

The horror film introduces us to the Graham family which suffers a dark fate across their maternal lineage. When the family matriarch, Ellen, passes away, her daughter, Annie (played by Toni Collette) discovers cryptic and increasingly frightening secrets about their ancestry.

The more she begins to unravel, the more the family finds itself attempting to escape the macabre fate they seem to have inherited.

Widely acknowledged as being the ‘scariest film in years’, and with a solid 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this latest offering from A24 is unmissable this Eid.

Hotel Artemis

The film, which is set in a near-future, dystopian Los Angeles, follows Jean Thomas (played by Jodie Foster), a nurse who runs a secret hospital for criminals called ‘Hotel Artemis’.

This facility is operated with a specific set of rules, which include no weapons, and no murdering other patients. However, all this is put to test when an object of great value enters the premises.

Apart from the high octane action, and the impressive cast, what makes this film a must-watch this Eid is the fact that Jeff Goldblum plays a character called ‘The Wolf King’.

The Incredibles 2 (3D, IMAX)

Fourteen years after the incredibly successful The Incredibles (2014), comes the much-awaited sequel, and this outing, the movie will focus on the exploits of Helen Parr / Elastigirl (voiced by Holly Hunter).

While she is out saving the world, Bob Parr / Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) is left to take care of their infant son, Jack-Jack.

With the reprisal of Brad Bird and most of the original cast, along with the promise of new characters, consider this long-awaited sequel a treat for Eid.

TAG

The comedy flick, with a well-rounded, stellar cast, has a hilarious premise: they are a bunch of ex-classmates who have organised an extensive, and annual game of tag for over 30 years, which requires them to travel all over the country, and it is based on a true story.

The plot takes off when the rest of the group conspire against Jerry Pierce (played by Jeremy Renner), who plans to retire from the game this year.

Don’t miss this hysterical flick that is bound to serve up enough laughs and gags to split your sides this Eid.

Maya the Bee: The Honey Games (3D)

This animated comedy adventure film is the sequel to Maya the Bee (2014), and sets off when an overenthusiastic Maya accidentally embarrasses the Empress of Buzztropolis.

She now has to unite with a squad of misfit bugs and critters to compete in the Honey Games, which is the only way she can save her hive.

Join this fun-filled adventure to gain some well-deserved approval from your kids this Eid.

Race 3

This crime-thriller, which pulsates with extraordinary action sets, revolves around a family that is ruthless and vindictive in their operations, and also borderline criminal.

Although very little information has been revealed about the plot, the third instalment of the eponymous action-thriller franchise sees fan-favourite Salman Khan replace Saif Ali Khan in the leading role.

Expect an adrenalin-quenching action-thriller that also offers audacious twists with a hint of comedy. Plus, it was shot extensively in Abu Dhabi. So prepare to spot some of your neighbourhood on the big screen.

Saat Din Mohabbat In

The Pakistani romantic comedy flick introduces us to Tipu (played by Sheheryar Munawar), a man who is on a quest to find true love in an overly crowded Pakistani neighbourhood.

Along with the primary quest, he must progress against various obstacles which come in both spiritual and physical forms, to attain his wishes.

With the enormously popular Mahira Khan as the female lead, this intimate rom-com should be at the top of your watch lists this Eid.

ARABIC

Al Abla Tamtam

This flick is a character study of a music teacher (played by Yasmin Abdulaziz) who teaches at a private school called ‘Tam Tam’.

She is renowned to be unauthoritative and her introverted personality coupled with her indecisiveness in crucial situations gets her into trouble with her students, their parents, and her administrative peers.

Watch this movie for some classic Egyptian comedy to fill your Eid with humour.

Lielet Hana Wa Srour

The Egyptian comedy flick narrates the story of newly-weds, Sorour (played by Mohammad Emam) and Hana (played by Yasmine Sabri).

Sorour, a businessman, and Hana are being chased by a gang shortly after their marriage. As the movie progresses, we discover why they are being pursued by this mysterious gang.

Expect laughs and twists in this Egyptian comedy.

The Message

The epic historical drama film is an account of the life and times of the Prophet Mohammad PBUH.

The story is told from the perspective of his uncle, Hamza (played by Abdallah Gheith), the leader of Mecca, Abu (played by Hamdi Gheith) and his wife, Hind (played by Mouna Wasef), and serves as an introduction to early Islamic history.

Originally released in 1976 in both Arabic and English, the Arabic version has undergone a stunning 4K restoration and is being screened theatrically for the first time ever in the country. Perhaps, there’s no film more fitting for an Eid viewing.

This coming-of-age drama revolves around a group of engineering students in Bangalore, who struggle to get through the course due to their lackadaisical attitudes and frequent skirmishes within the college. 

An incident outside the campus shakes them to reality and they are forced to confront it through a trial by fire.

The rom-com introduces us to an RJ who is a bubbly and chirpy woman that believes in the destiny of love.
