Abu Dhabi-based Arabic music academy Bait Al Oud is holding three graduation concerts this week. The first concert was held at Manarat Al Saadiyat on April 23 with a performance by Nejma Al Koor in a vocal graduation concert, where she sang traditional Arabic songs.

On April 24, two oud students, Lucas George Saliba and Hany Mehran, will be performing to obtain their degrees at the Bait Al Oud premises. The final graduation concert on April 26 at the same venue will see Mary Hatoum singing a programme of traditional Arabic songs based on the theme of Mother.

Bait Al Oud was established in 2008 by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and is dedicated to the preservation of the songs and techniques associated with the oud, and other instruments in the UAE, including the qanun, cello, violin and rebabah. It also offers music lessons in these instruments and in Arabic singing, and runs certificate-awarding courses.

All three concerts will begin at 8pm. Entrance is free to members of the public.
