The ranking, while not disregarding perceptions, focuses on accessibility, fashion expertise and architectural elegance as data figures to rate these cities.
Dubai, as expected, is one of the top 50 elegant cities of the world (ranked 41st) out of the 400 cities that were part of the first sample. The best score Dubai got was in 'Desirability by Visitors', one of the urban factors measured in the ranking.

The Accessibility Score ranks how affordable markers of an elegant lifestyle are, in terms of cost of living and local purchasing power - meaning that having a lot of money to spend is not a defining criteria for the elegance ranking. Cape Town in South Africa outshone the other countries in this criteria.
