If you’re looking for an iftar that will fill you to the brim, Pharaoh Café is the place Image Credit: Supplied

Pharaoh Café is a gem nestled in the heart of Bur Dubai, just a few blocks from the Al Fahidi metro station.

The café houses a brilliant collection of Egyptian antiques and directly faces the Dubai Museum at Al Fahidi Fort. Beyond the warm welcome lies an extravagant iftar spread.

The meat fatayer and fattoush stand out among the assortment of hors d’oeuvres and pair perfectly with any of the four Ramadan juices served; I opted for the laban. The main course was a spot-on feast, with a mix of traditional and Mediterranean specialities. I found my poison in the scrumptious lamb kofta, which was cooked to perfection with the right spices. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Egyptian signature dish, kushari. The samak harra was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before, its tanginess perfectly balancing out the spice.

Afterwards, the chocolate mousse and Umm Ali were gobbled up almost instantly and satisfied my sweet tooth.

We loved: The lamb chops and chilli chicken are must-haves.
We hated: The knafe didn’t live up to my cheese expectations.
Verdict: Great value. If you’re looking for an iftar buffet that will fill you to the brim, Pharaoh Café is the place.
