'The Crown' actress Imelda Staunton said: “It’s been wonderful to be in the beating heart of Crisis at Christmas and help with vital preparations for the opening of their services later this month. Every detail – from the welcome packs received by guests on their first day, to the food donations for their Christmas dinner – is crucial in helping Crisis support people to leave homelessness behind this festive season. I urge anyone who can to join me in supporting Crisis, so they can be there for anyone who needs them, this Christmas and beyond.”

At the other end of the spectrum, there's also this: A foodbank charity cut all ties with comedian Russell Brand in the wake of recent allegations. The comedian and actor has been accused of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse, which he denies. One Can Trust in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, said he was no longer its ambassador following the "extremely serious allegations". "It is not appropriate or in the interests of our organisation for him to continue in this role," it added. The charity provides more than 600 weekly food parcels and offers advice and support to families who are struggling with financial difficulties.
