Dubai: Phone subscribers in the UAE can now have the option to upgrade to a postpaid plan without having to spend so much money or even sign a contract.

UAE-based telecommunications firm du unveiled on Sunday its latest deal, called “Control Plan,” which gives UAE residents the chance to enjoy both postpaid and prepaid benefits at the same time.

Users can enroll in a plan that lets them pay either Dh80 or Dh135 per month, and they’re assured that their monthly bill will not go any higher than what they sign up for.

Should they wish to enjoy more data or call minutes, however, all they need to do is recharge their number as they used to: buy a prepaid recharge card. They can also go online through the du app that allows users to manage plans or pay bills.

The 80 monthly post-paid bill can be enjoyed by signing up for “Control Plan 80.” This gives customers a choice of 2 GB data and 50 flexible minutes, or 2GB data and 100 national minutes.

For those who wish to enjoy more Internet, browsing or call allowance, the “Control Plan 135,” which costs Dh135 per month, gives customers a choice of 2.5 GB data and 200 flexible minutes or 300 national minutes.

Subscribers to any of these plans can also get the chance to grab the latest handsets with zero up-front and interest-free instalments.

The telecom firm said that it only requires subscribers to present a debit card and a UAE national ID, no contract needed.

“Customers who subscribe to this new plan will not have any contractual obligations, meaning they can cancel at any time,” du said.
