Dubai: A Dubai-based makeup artist and blogger turned businesswoman has made it to the Forbes’ list of most successful self-made women.
Valued at $550 million (Dh2 billion), Huda Kattan, is now ranked 37th in the list of America’s richest self-made women. The power list includes Oprah Winfrey, Vera Wang, Kim Kardashian, Tory Burch and Madonna.
According to Forbes’ latest rankings released only recently, the estimated fortune of the founder and CEO of Huda Beauty has now eclipsed the wealth of celebrities Kim Kardashian West, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand and Beyonce Knowles.
Kattan is an Iraqi born in the United States. She transferred to Dubai for a job at a consulting company after completing a university degree in the US.
But her stint in the private company didn’t last long and in 2010, she started writing a beauty blog and publishing how-to-videos, according to Forbes.
She later went on to start a company, called Huda Beauty, along with her two sisters.
The company now has more than 140 products and Kattan’s name is now a global brand.
Today, the self-made American millionaire who is still based in Dubai has more than 26 million followers on Instagram.
