It’s scary these days how often major news stories start with a tweet.
Last week, we thought we were done talking about Opec after the group reached a deal to pump more oil, but then US President Trump tweet that Saudi Arabia should double its oil production. Now Opec is back in the headlines, with many people asking not if, but when, Saudi and the rest of Opec can begin pumping more.
Oil isn’t the only news story that has started with a Trump Tweet. We talk about the markets too, which at the mid-year point are now down almost 10 per cent from their January high, which is when Trump began tweeting about trade tariffs.
But in the end, we talk about the World Cup, but we all need to find a way to escape this news cycle.
