Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (Dafza) further boosted its ties with China through a series of initiatives focused on growing bilateral trade and investment this year.

In a statement, Dafza said it met with a government delegation from China led by Qian Keming, China’s vice minister of commerce. The delegation also included other officials from China as well as representatives from Dafza and the World Free Zones Organisation.

Mohammad Al Zarouni, director general of Dafza, said he sees “tremendous growth opportunities” in a number of sectors including electronics, logistics, e-commerce, and medical services.

The meeting also discussed strategies and new ways of planning, managing, and operating free zones.

Dafza recently signed a partnership deal with the Liaoning Chamber of Commerce UAE to increase collaboration between the two parties. The deal is expected to help create new business and investment opportunities with the Liaoning province.

Al Zarooni said the UAE recognises China’s position as one of the most prominent economic forces in Asia.

“The UAE and the People’s Republic of China have held strong strategic relations politically, economically, and culturally since the mid-1980s. The governments of both countries have sought to build on these relations ever since …” he said in a statement.
