Dubai: With Emirates launching its Home Check-in service, some departing passengers from Dubai can now skip the long queues for security checks at the airport and go directly to the immigration counter.

The airline announced on Wednesday that it is allowing its passengers to complete all check-in procedures -- from bag drop to boarding pass collection -- at the privacy of their own home, office, hotel or anywhere in Dubai.

Emirates said that since the new service was announced, there has been a positive response from its customers.

“We have already seen good uptake. This service is the first of its kind in the region, and Emirates is committed to providing world-class products and services for our customers to ensure a more seamless, convenient journey,” an Emirates spokesperson told Gulf News.

The home check-in is available only to Emirates flyers who are departing from Dubai International Airport. It also does not include transportation of passengers to the airport.

How does it work?

1. Just after buying ticket, fill out a request form via the airline’s website to book Home Check-in and the airline staff will then contact you to arrange the service.

2. Between 48 and seven hours before departure, a check-in agent will meet you at the agreed location to:

Check you in and print your boarding pass

Weigh and securely check your baggage

Deliver your luggage straight to the airport.

With your bag checked in and boarding pass ready, you can just grab your passport and head straight to the airport

The service costs Dh350 per person for up to seven pieces of luggage and anything extra can be accommodated at Dh35 per piece.

With the home check-in, flyers can also pay for excess baggage if they’re carrying items more than the weight limit.

The service is available to Emirates passengers across all classes.
