Dubai Health Authority (DHA) marked International Labour Day last week by holding an appreciation ceremony to thank labourers working with the Authority for their dedication and for their contribution to the success of the organisation.

International Workers Day or Labour Day, takes place on May 1 every year to celebrate and recognise the efforts of the labour force.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) addressed labourers at a felicitation ceremony, which took place at Nad Al Hammar Health Centre.Celebrations also took place across several other DHA facilities.

The ceremony honoured labourers including cleaners, messengers, security guards etc. working with the Authority. Free screening sessions took place at the Nad Al Hammar primary healthcare centre. The screening included medical check-ups including blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, eye and dental check-up and smoke analyser test to gauge the carbon monoxide levels of smokers and smoking cessation awareness.

“We are grateful to the workers for their hard work, dedication and commitment,” said Al Qutami. “Such initiatives help express our appreciation for the work that they undertake and to help create a positive and appreciative work environment. The screening programme also reinforces the importance of preventive health and wellbeing.”

At the end of the felicitation ceremony, workers received gifts and a certificate of appreciation.
