Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has started accepting applications of Emirati high school and university students interested in taking part in its summer training programme.
Organised by the Medical Education Department at DHA, the annual programme sees students work for almost one month in DHA’s hospitals, health clinics and administration offices to gain practical work experience.
A total of 169 students will take part in the DHA programme, which will run from July 22 to August 16. Students interested in the programme can visit the authority’s website, Dha.gov.ae, to apply.
Amna Al Suwaidi, Director of Human Resources at DHA, says the summer training programme presents an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience. She adds that the programme will be divided into two sections — administrative and specialised — for students to gain work experience.
A head start
Al Suwaidi says such programmes are essential for students to get a head start in terms of their career because work experience helps them understand what the requirements of a job are and how they could fulfil them effectively.
Once accepted into the programme, high school students will receive an allowance of Dh2,000 per month, while university students will receive Dh3,000 a month.
Students who excel during their training will be honoured for their efforts.
To qualify for the programme, students must be UAE nationals; they must have passing grades and must complete the application process and provide all the required information.
