According to World Health Organization, nine out of 10 people globally are breathing poor quality air. The organisation is calling for dramatic action against pollution that is the cause of more than six million deaths a year.

#Pollution - A search of the hashtag will reveal that people across the globe are constantly sharing facts and concerns about pollution.

Kay Flavell: “On Tuesday night around 8pm a wave of toxic fumes drifted across our city, sickening all who came in contact with it, and still impacting many of us the following day. The fumes came from an accident involving release of crude oil from an oil tanker that had started unloading at the Phillips refinery in Rodeo, just across the Carquinez Straits(California). Citizens received phone calls warning them to ‘shelter in place’. Tomorrow I plan on buying a gas mask for future emergencies. No official statement has yet been released.

This points to the foolishness of importing more pollution onto the Napa River by destroying and replacing our historic flour mill with a 24 hr cement mill and private port. On our downtown waterfront, 35,000 sq. ft of empty land is currently for sale, zoned commercial. The Sperry Mill building also offers 35,000 sq. ft and cries out for adaptive reuse. What about the 80 ft high silo? adventure sports and a screen for stunning murals? Rezone also as commerciaI? I recently joined www.spur.org and and am dreaming of a Vallejo study group to join existing branches in SF. San Jose and Oakland.

Jahmelle Marie Bartlett: “RIVER ON FIRE IN QUEENSLAND ! Disgusting and so wrong stop fracking in Australia this is our country our home! Not a free for all for big companies to come and steal and deplete our natural resources rivers on fire guys sounds scary well it is!

Who’s going to be responsible for the damage to the environment if fracking is spread Australia wide? Why this is allowed by our government I’ll never understand. Oh! wait I know why they allow it because our government is greedy and only thinks of the money they can make by selling off australia’s natural resources.”

Charan Singh: “Air pollution is the biggest threat to our upcoming generations.”

Kim Shrader: “I really hope the next debate issues about pollution and climate change are on the questionnaire.”

James Uncommon Abraham: “The health of the environment determines the health of man. Thousands of cigarette butts end up in the environment, overburdening it’s sink nature and debilitating it’s life promoting capacity through quantum pollution loads. Cigarette is dangerous, protect ur health and save the environment. Hot cigarette hurts but hot tea is benificial.”

Syed Bashir Ahmad Veeri: “Let us act before it is too late. #prevent air pollution save environment.”

Tommy Warden: “The air is thick with smog out here in Yuen Long and Tuen Mun today.”

Sagnika Roy Choudhury: “This is not early morning fog but heavy dust pollution lurking in the airs of this city — in Bangalore, India.”

Chidimma Clare Chyclare: “If Nigeria does nothing to curtail the rise in outdoor air pollutions due to constant burning of fossil fuels and other hazardous gases emission...then the death toll will be on the rise. #embraceGreenEnergy #LiveGreen #SaveOurEnvironment”
