In a speech Thursday, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton accused her opponent Republican nominee Donald Trump of encouraging hate groups, saying he had built a campaign on prejudice and paranoia. People in the niche conservative movement are using the hashtag #AltRightMeans to define the philosophy, slam Muslims and denigrate both legal and illegal US immigrants seen as a threat to the right-wing’s vision of America.

Many on social media however, slammed the ideas:

The Good, the Chad, & the Ugly: “Thanks to Steve Bannon and Breitbart taking prominent roles in the Donald J. Trump campaign, “Alt Right” is becoming more mainstream. So here’s what “Alt Right” actually means. That Leslie Jones campaign of horrible harrassment and humiliation led by Breitbart’s Milo Yiannopoulos? That’s Alt Right.

#AltRightMeans”

Christopher Leon Johnson: “People are claiming the #altright position now in this country but they don’t really know the true #altright. The true Altright movement is anti-illegal immigration, anti-outsource jobs, anti-Black-Lives-Matter, anti-affrmative action, and more but you get the point... the real leaders are Andrew Anglin, David Duke, Donald Trump... It’s real funny that now the baby boomers who just like to collect their pensions and still like to suck the money out of the middle class and the working poor out of social security who are the biggest leeches now in the 2016 era are claiming #Altright who are scared of endorsing Trump openly. You have now the Consertative Activists who are aganist racism claiming Alt-Right.

On Twitter, people said those claiming to be a part of the “Alt Right” movement are bigoted.

@Metalmoccha: “Refusing to believe that people were raped and/or murdered before mass migration became a reality #AltRightMeans.”

@Metalmoccha: “Saying that only minorities can be violent despite all evidence to the contrary #AltRightMeans.”

@Metalmoccha: “An ideological perversion #AltRightMeans.”

Meanwhile, recently MSNBC channel host Joe Scarborough mocked Donald Trump on Monday for softening his position on immigration, one of the key tenets of his campaign.

During the primaries, Trump proposed deporting 11 million immigrants who are in the US illegally. But he seems to have backed away from that position in recent weeks as he falls in the polls and battles the perception that he’s too extreme.

Jerry Bowles: “Donald Trump is not “reaching out” to black and Latino voters. He’s going to lose both groups by probably historic margins no matter what he says or does between now and the election. He’s trying to make himself more palatable to white educated voters who have been repulsed by his overt intemperance and racism. He has become just another ordinary politician saying what he thinks he needs to say to get votes. Kind of sad for the true believers, I would think. #amnestydon”

John Hahm: “That nickname won’t sit well with Trump’s pointy-headed dunces. Ironic, since Trump is as cruel and contemptuous of undocumented immigrants as ever. He has no “compassionate” immigration plan.”

@alphabeerguy: “Hey @realDonaldTrump, can’t wait for your immigration speech on Wed. John Kerry called, he said you could borrow his flip flops. #amnestydon”

@ReaganBattalion: “BREAKING: #AmnestyDon is shifting towards building more of a “virtual wall” on the border...”
