Abu Dhabi

Oscar was found three years ago in one of our feeding colonies in Abu Dhabi. Every night, volunteers from our group, Sandy Paws, feed around 100 cats. We focus on areas where the abandoned animals usually show up. Oscar just appeared one day in Khalifa City and was so friendly, we figured he was an abandoned pet.

When discovered, he didn’t look rough at all, like stray cats might. He looked like he had been living in somebody’s home. On seeing me, he came running up to me and it was obvious that he was a friendly cat with no issues or injuries.

However, he was not microchipped or neutered, so we took him to the vet to be neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

He lived at the vet for a few months, where he seemed happy to have attention and love from the staff. We then found him a foster home. They initially had two other cats and Oscar fit in well with them and was happy. But, then they took in many more and he became stressed. He may have felt like he was not getting enough attention.

He also wanted to go out, but it wasn’t safe for him to do so in the area. It was awful for him to have to leave because he had spent 18 months in this home.

He is now in another foster home with two other well-behaved cats, who he gets on well with. They are both nice, gentle felines. Additionally, he has access to a garden and so is very happy. He needs some place to play and be in the sun, so it would be advisable for him to stay in a villa. And he would do well with other non-territorial cats. He is good with children, too.

His current foster parents said: “Oscar is a very gentle boy, who loves to be around people. He loves to explore his garden and will sit in the sun for hours. His gentle nature means he is great with other gentle felines.”

He is now four and a half years old and is looking for his forever home. Please help this gentle giant find his happy ending.
