We are diverse with the same values

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has set an ideal and shining example before the world leaders by renaming the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Mosque in Al Mushrif. The act goes beyond mere inter-religious dialogues, dogmatic prejudices and portrays the true legacy of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the pioneer of giving and goodness. On the flipside, it is ironic that while our diverse faith promotes essentially the same values, most conflicts are motivated by religious, sectarian and ideological differences. The UAE’s stand for coexistence and interfaith relations is most relevant in today’s context and promotes mutual understanding and resolves contentious issues.

A beautiful image

I offer a hearty felicitation to the Rulers of Abu Dhabi for renaming a mosque, Mariam, Umm Eisa, which means ‘Mary, Mother of Jesus’ (‘Religious figures praise Mohammad’s gesture’, Gulf News, June 16). It shows their generosity to consolidate the bonds of humanity between followers of different religions. By this act of humanity, he has set an example and a beautiful image of the tolerance and coexistence enjoyed in the UAE.

A shining example

The renaming of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Mosque to Mary, Mother of Jesus is yet another example of religious tolerance in this region. The UAE has more than 200 different nationalities and is home to various religious beliefs and faiths. All of whom live in peace and harmony. The world is at present divided in the name of religion, caste and creed. Other countries should follow this path of tolerance adopted by the UAE. It is the clear vision of the authorities in the UAE that helps keep all faiths united together. This is indeed a real example of peace and tolerance that the UAE can show to the world.

Never give up

It seems like this man has already given up on life for failing only three times (‘From a secure job to half-a-million-dirham debt’, Gulf News, June 17). Look at Jack Ma, Mark Zuckerberg and Colonel Sanders – among others. They failed several times over before hitting it big. It’s all about your determination and a positive outlook in life. May God bless him and help his family through it.

Trust in God

Be honest, act with honesty and work hard. Our efforts can end up being unsuccessful, but we can’t lose hope. In business there are losers and gainers – it’s all up and down and its part of business. Respect your staff, take care of them properly, make relations with them like a friend and you will never truly lose. Try again, work hard and trust in God. God willing, this man will be successful.

Everyone fails

That’s the real time of getting great ideas, because you are under pressure and at that moment your mind can generate some great ideas that might change your entire life. So many successful people failed thousands of times and just need to keep going.

This needs to stop!

Despite the nation-wide protest against the unruly behaviour of a member of parliament (MP), Ravindra Gaikwad in March 2017, the VIP culture hasn’t stopped (‘7 airlines bar MP Diwakar Reddy from flying’, Gulf News, June 17). This time the Visakhapatnam, India airport authorities had to face the wrath of the Telugu Desam MP JC Diwakar Reddy, who came late to board a flight.

Ironically, like in the first case, this time the Aviation Minister was there to bail out Reddy. If the ministers themselves come in support of such unruly VIPs, who could discipline them?

It is time someone uses an iron fist to rein in such erring VIPs, lest time and again we may have to come across such inconveniences.

Action is needed

The news of the tower in in London, UK was sad to read, however the death toll of the fire is yet to be fully known (‘Pressure piles on May as protests spill over into streets of London’, Gulf News, June 18). The investigation is ongoing. The UK authorities should have periodic inspections of high rise buildings as it has been done in the UAE. I pray for the victims and a speedy recovery for the injured.
