The kind and generous people of the UAE
It’s true that the UAE is very safe, as I have spent half of my life here and it is one of the best places on Earth to live (‘UAE tops list of ‘safest country in the world’, Gulf News, October 12). The people I love the most for their kindness and generosity. I cannot forget the UAE and its people as long as I live.

Safe for residents
When it comes to the security and safety of expatriates, I think the UAE deserves this recognition because it has less crime compared to other countries and crimes are resolved immediately. So, I like this place a lot.

Freedom of religion
I have been living here in Dubai for a long time and this credit goes to the Rulers who take great care for the safety of the residents. Here in Dubai, it is very multicultural. Everyone is free to practise their own religion. A lot of nationalities are living here, best of luck to all of them.

Keeps improving
It is great news that I read with pleasure that the UAE is the third safest country in the world. The law and order of the country is equal for citizens, expatriates and visitors. Protecting residents
The raid of the fake phones is really good work (‘12 million fake phones and accessories seized in Dubai’, Gulf News, October 11). These people are lying to potential customers by posting pictures of different brands of phones online claiming that they are original and brand new. However, once you buy the mobile, you can see that they aren’t authentic or they are refurbished, having no trade mark. Thank you to the authorities for taking actions on these sellers.

An offensive lesson
Books used in all schools should be checked (‘Schools need to avoid offensive interpretations’, Gulf News, October 7). Two years ago, when my son was in grade six, they received a lesson in social studies in which an example given to explain the role of village authorities and the need for surveying, depicted a very offensive picture. When my son had questions about his lesson for me, I explained the facts clearly to him. But, not all parents would clarify or know how to. Books used in schools should be developing harmony between people and not separating them.

Informative benefits of honey
The report on honey and the five health benefits of honey that heal your body inside and out was very informative (‘5 health benefits of honey that heal your body inside and out’, Gulf News, October 12). Honey is the most rich and safest natural food supplement ever created in the world. A bee is not a petty insect, but it gives the most healthy, nutritious and delicious ingredient. It is a great medicine for a burn wound. It can be used as a substitute for white sugar in many foods and drinks. It is an excellent energetic aid and helps in boosting the performance of athletes. It is a great way to maintain blood sugar levels. After all, it is a panacea for many ailments. This was a wonderful report by Gulf News to read!

Improving the rankings
The new Holkar Stadium in Indore, India has truly proved to be a lucky ground for India’s cricket team, especially the team captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and, of course, our ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who notched up their highest test scores and wickets, respectively (‘Kohli receives mace after India tops Test rankings’, Gulf News, October 12). Receiving the world’s number one mace was the icing on this series victory cake. We are sure that this team will not get complacent and continue with this winning streak against England and Australia, too!
Well done to Kohli and team. Now it is time for the One Day International (ODI) captain M. S. Dhoni’s team to shine in the ODI series and improve our ranking.

Too much salt
Like sugar, excess intake of salt also poses great health problems (‘Hypermarkets in Dubai to cut salt in in-house food items’, Gulf News, October 7). It is widely known that salt has a direct relation with blood circulation in our body and can lead to many health complications. Let’s use salt and sugar, at least on a moderate level so we can enjoy the taste of them for a long time.

Cut salt intake!
The Dubai Municipality asked hypermarkets to reduce sodium levels in their in-house products and I’m glad to hear this news. I really appreciate the effort and concerns for the health of the public.
My suggestion is to apply the same standard to normal middle class restaurants also. For example, most of the people love to drink tea from restaurants, unfortunately the sugar level in tea is very high. The same goes for food items in restaurants containing a lot of oil.
I hope the municipality or concerned department can set right the standards.
