Deserve to be kept away

Incarceration is not enough for those that prey on children (“10-year-old girl dies after rape in Bihar”, Gulf News, January 25). Breaking the innocence of the most vulnerable in society, sexually excites the perpetrators. It’s only a matter of time and opportunity before they do it again. They are always assessing the risk of attacking children they see. Every child is a potential victim with these subhumans, even the children they create. Why should the taxpayers pay to keep them alive to traumatise and dehumanise more children?

Done the same thing

Completely stupid, I had an incident on my vacation in November wherein the train stopped for few minutes at a station (“Watch: selfie in front of speeding train lands man in hospital”, Gulf News, January 26). I got down to buy some snacks, headed toward the coach as it was a bit far away and the train started moving. Both my hands were full of snacks and food. As I ran and hopped into our coach, I later realised that I had seen a similar incident on YouTube wherein a woman lost her balance and fell under the coach of the train. I blamed myself for this stupid act.

Stupidity’s new low

I just can’t imagine the hardship his parents would have gone through to raise him, which has cost him jail-time because of his stupidity. I can’t imagine what his parents must be going through right now.

Just for approval

It is sad that people go to such extreme lengths, just to get a couple of likes on social media. Whether it is doing something stupid or dangerous why would someone try? Everyone is constantly seeking approval on social media. They think doing such stunts will give them some fame. Life is more important than any of this. People need to wake up and see what is most important.

Must see film

I watched the film and I think Gulf News gave a review that did justice to the movie (“Deepika confident ‘Padmaavat’ will make records”, Gulf News, January 26). I hope people watch it. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has showed a great movie with great story-telling skills. It is visually splendid, with just enough of the natural feel still intact. I think it is one step above the film Bahubali.

Rash driving

People do not know how to drive anymore (“Two killed in crash on Emirates Road”, Gulf News, January 23). Every day on my way to work I see at least one accident. I think people are in such a rush to get where they have to that they forget that there are other cars on the roads as well. People change lanes without giving their indicators and break unexpectedly. It is very stressful for other people on the road. During rush hour, driving is a nightmare. Everyone needs to learn to drive carefully. Can we not check our phones for just 20 minutes? People are talking, texting, and smoking or listening to loud music while driving, which is why there are so many accidents. We can easily avoid accidents if everyone on the road is not distracted and follows the rules and regulations.

Bad drivers

There is nothing new here. I have come across lots of pedestrians who cross the road without looking. I wonder how someone can have so much time and trust in the drivers that they would cross the road and expect them to stop for you. It’s your life on the line.

Blind love for cricket

Congratulations to the Indian Blind Cricket team for winning the World Cup at Sharjah (“India-Pakistan Blind Cricket World Cup final wins hearts”, Gulf News, January 21). We sincerely hope that the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI), the state and central government, who rush to announce cash rewards and promotion would be gracious enough to award these boys too with money for their achievement.
