Animal abdandonment: Leaving part of the family
It’s such a shame that people have no sense of responsibility for their pets (‘Community report in-depth: Rise in temperature, rise in cases of animal abandonment’, Gulf News, June 6). How can you just leave your cat or dog behind for the summer without any care when they have become part of your family? I will never understand how people can become so irresponsible.

An impossible feat
The letter by Mr M. N. Vivekanandan reminds of me people who sit across the fence without knowing enough about the real subject, but have a hobby of giving opinions about anything that crosses the road (‘Letters to the editor: Giving teachers a bigger role’, Gulf News, June 6).
Teachers are one of the most overworked and underpaid people in society and if they do not have time for themselves or for their families, then for sure the role that Mr Vivekanandan is daydreaming of will never be possible in the real world.
They are barely able to take regular classes and teach children the complete syllabus. This is no less than a miracle and a super human effort on their part as they are made to do all unnecessary documentation and paperwork spending late hours, holidays and weekends, time and again to please their superiors. All this is nowadays more important than teaching, interacting and mentoring the future generation.

Installing headlights incorrectly
The real problem here is people using xenon lights in a reflector style headlamps, which cannot focus the beam pattern (‘Dh200 fine for after-market xenon lights’, Gulf News, June 6). Instead, if you install a xenon kit on a vehicle with projector style headlamps, it won’t blind the oncoming traffic. You need to either upgrade to projector style lens headlights then install a xenon kit from the manufacturer or never install it if you have reflector style headlights.

Always been illegal
Xenon lights have been illegal for ages and that’s the reason a registration centre would never pass your car with aftermarket lights. However, people still have these lights and it’s hard to stop everyone.

Aftermarket xenon lamps emit a blue-white light that is easy to identify when compared to the original factory-fitted xenon modules.
