I wish to raise a complaint against Majid Al Futtaim Finance Credit Card Promotion. I am supposed to receive a Mall Gift Voucher of Dh500 on my spends of more than Dh15,000 during the promotion period June 1 to June 30, 2017.

I enrolled by sending an SMS on June 4 and received a confirmation message from Najm on the same day: “Thank you for your enrollment in our Ramadan Campaign - REF - 812. For more info visit www.najmlifestyle.com”

After enrolling and getting the confirmation from Najm, I proceeded to spend Dh15,010.80 during the period June 5 to June 29, 2017.

Now Majid Al Futtaim is not fulfilling their commitment, citing the reason that I was not one of the first 1,000 customers to register.

The terms and conditions on their website did not have the clause of 1,000 customers when checked on June 3, 2017. They added this clause later. Also, the SMS confirming to me that I am enrolled is a “contract” between Najm and me, that I will be eligible for the Mall Voucher for Dh500 on spending over Dh15,000. If I was not enrolled, I should be getting the message: “your enrollment has failed as you are not part of our first 1,000 customers.”

Additionally, they sent me an email on June 8, 2017 enticing me to spend Dh15,000 as per their offer. In the email I received, as per Najm they had gotten their 1,000 customers enrolled before June 4, 2017 and my enrollment number was 1982. If the first 1,000 customers have already registered and the promotion is over - why will Najm send out emails asking to enrol? This is a clear case of misleading the customer, rather duping the customer, to spend on his card and thereafter not honouring the Mall Gift Voucher. All said and done, Majid Al Futtaim is currently running similar campaigns - spend Dh15,000 and get mall voucher of Dh400, without any clause of 1,000 customers.

I request all Gulf News readers to not get enamoured by their claim as they may be just interested to increase your spending and charge heavy financial charges.
